Refugee Week celebrates the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. In 2024, the campaign's theme was \"Our Home.\" With this theme, Refugee Week commemorated all the characteristics which take us to the state of peace and happiness that we call \u201chome.\u201d \u201cHome\u201d transcends borders or cultures. Moved by the theme of \"Our Home,\" Hope for the Young partnered with Tegan Price to host a workshop where we brought mentees together and asked them, what does \u201chome\u201d mean to you? Hope for the Young aims to remove the obstacles to young refugees and asylum-seekers\u2019 education and well-being through mentoring, advocacy, and financial support.<\/p>
Our mentoring programme trains volunteers to provide weekly one-on-one support and advice surrounding our mentees\u2019 goals and aspirations. These meetings help young people develop independence skills, create support networks and increase confidence to reach their full potential.\u00a0<\/p>
